I called for a first time hair appointment and by the luck of the draw, I got Tamar. I couldn't have been happier with my experience at Onyx! Everyone I encountered was very friendly and so professional. The salon was clean, neat, and felt very comfortable and welcoming. Tamar spent time with me before the cut to make sure she understood what I wanted in my cut/style...my likes and dislikes. I have very short hair so I'm nervous about trying new people anyway, but after talking with her at first I was completely at ease. She gave me an amazing cut that I can style different ways. I would feel comfortable going to her from now on and saying "do whatever...." and know I would love it. That is hard to find in a stylist! I will definitely come back and tell my friends what a great salon Onyx is! Thanks!

Maggie is THE best hairdresser I have ever found! I have looked everywhere for someone that can work with my thick hair and she is my savior! I actually was able to trust her enough to chop all my hair off because I know she'll do a great job and wouldn't do anything that wouldn't look anything less than perfect! Sara is absolutely fantastic. I always come to her with something new, and she nails it every time! She's so willing to help, and really communicates/suggests things wonderfully. I also love how "together" the staff is, they seem to play off each other's ideas and it works! Love them.

Gabby ROCKS!!! I have been going to Gabby for about three years and absolutely love her. I constantly want a different look and she always gets it right. I had all but given up on finding a hair dresser that could deal with my thin flat hair until I went to Onyx with a friend for her consult. There I met Cory, who upon asking me about my hair proceeded to explain his hair was very similar and he knew how to deal with it! Now, 4 years later I have never gotten a haircut or color from him I haven't loved! He always knows exactly how to handle my pathetic hair and make it look edgy and full. Even the times when I had no idea what I wanted he can always do something awesome and when I decided to bleach my own hair he quietly fixed it for me, teaching me that stylists can know best. :) I live in Richmond and as long as Onyx has Cory I will continue to drive my three hours to get the best possible treatment for my hair! I've been going to Sara since spring of 2007 when she did my prom hair as training! I've never felt as comfortable going to anyone else and always does a fantastic job with whatever I ask for. Knowing it was her that wielded the scissors helped give me the courage to go from below the shoulders to a pixie cut this past fall!
