Lori has been a licensed esthetician for 26 years. She always knew she wanted to work in the field. Lori entered into a traditional cosmetology program but quickly realized she was more interested in make up and skin care. After looking at programs on the East Coast, she decided to attend the Von Lee International School of Esthetics in Baltimore, Maryland. Lori returned to Roanoke, becoming the valley’s first esthetician, and has worked in the industry ever since. To expand her professional skills, she also became a nail technician.
- What is your favorite thing about being an esthetician and nail tech?
I enjoy developing relationships with my clients. I have customers that I have served for over 15 years. These people are like family! I really enjoy making people feel good about themselves. Pedicures, manicures, and facials are great stress relievers. There is something rewarding about being able to brighten someone’s day.
- What nail and skin care products do you recommend all your clients own
Everyone should regularly use a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sun screen. This keeps the skin healthy and youthful. Daily use of sunscreen prevents sun damage and premature aging. The Sothys line of products has something for all skin types. I also recommend Rejuvacote to strengthen nails.
- What would you say is your strength as a nail technician and esthetician?
I am a very detailed person, and I work hard to make sure my clients are pleased with the outcome of my service. Personalized care is a priority. I realize everyone today leads hectic lives, so I try to accommodate the needs and schedules of my clients.
- What is your favorite thing about working with the Onyx Design Team?
This salon has a unique atmosphere. The Onyx design team is the most talented and creativity group with whom I have ever worked. I am proud to be a part of it.
- How would you say Onyx is different from other salons?
Onyx has a different concept of serving their clientele. It is progressive and brings something unusual to the city. The salon involves itself in the metropolitan area through charity events and other community efforts in the Roanoke Valley.
