Onyx is a RUSK only salon. As a team, we only utilize RUSK techniques, products and blades-unlike any other salon in the valley. Onyx is also the home of NINE Rusk Educators from the world renowned Rusk Design Team, which there are less than 200 worldwide located in over 22 countries. These Rusk Educators travel nationally to instruct hairdressers on product knowledge, the latest trends, and any Rusk techniques in classes or at corporate hair shows. Our head educator holds education classes at Onyx once a month to keep our design team on the cutting edge. Having several US RUSK educators on our team you are guaranteed to receive the highest quality services from any of our designers.

REVOLVING THUMB SHEAR
Revolutionary design features an open grip 360° rotating thumb with a crane handle design. The open grip reduces thumb travel and leaves your hand in a relaxed neutral position; this all but eliminates hand and wrist strain. The rotating thumb allows you to cut vertically or diagonally with a low stress "elbow down" position. The crane handle design relieves stress on both the shoulder and wrist and provides the ultimate control when cutting.
The RUSK 5.0" and 5.5" rotating thumb Delta straight blade shears are setting new industry standards for quality in terms of performance, construction and design.
THE KEY TO ALL MODERN HAIR STYLING IS TEXTURE.
The enemy of volume is weight, in thick or fine hair. By weaving the ends of hair, a perfect broken line is created . An exact science that should not be left to chance. "A broken line should be as perfect as a straight line." This ability to break the line consistently without thinning the hair so that ends cannot join together, is the point of texturizing the hair in the first place. When texturizing, we create a series of minute blunt lines which prevent the ends from joining together. We are not thinning, but stacking one length against another, thereby releasing hair's volume and vital texture. This cannot be done by chipping into hair with conventional shears or using a razor. The effect in entirely different. Almost every head of hair is improved, 100% with this technique.

The alpha blade. The development of the first weaving and texturizing blades introduced to the industry in 1984. Development of these RUSK blades created tools that took precision cutting one step further by incorporating precision texturizing. As styles change, product needs also change. As a company, RUSK meets these needs by being the first to launch many new categories that have changed the way stylists think about hair. RUSK was the first to create a new chemical service category that changes the way we relate to natural hair textures (curly to wavy-wavy to straight-or curly to straight).
